Man Struck, Killed Crossing Veterans Highway In Holbrook

A 37-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed while crossing Veterans Memorial Highway in Holbrook.

The incident took place around 8:50 p.m., Monday, April 15, as the man was walking on the highway eastbound when he was struck by a 2015 Nissan Rogue being driven by a Lake Ronkonkoma woman, said the Suffolk County Police.

The man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, was transported via Holbrook Ambulance to Long Island Community Hospital in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead, police said.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check. Detectives are asking anyone with information on this crash to call the Fifth Squad at 631-854-8552.
